Account Deletion Policy
Last updated: August 2026
OHLAM (Oramex House and Land Agency Management) uses a soft deletion process for account closures. This policy explains how deletion requests are handled, why we retain accounts for six months before permanent deletion, and what this means for your data.
1. Overview
This Account Deletion Policy explains what happens when you request to delete your account on Oramex House and Land Agency Management ("OHLAM"), the real estate technology platform operated by Oramex Globals Limited.
To protect the safety and integrity of our platform, and to protect users, property owners, agents and the wider community from fraud and criminal misuse, OHLAM does not permanently and immediately erase an account the moment a deletion request is made. Instead, we operate a soft deletion process followed by a defined waiting period before permanent deletion.
2. What Is Soft Deletion?
Soft deletion means that when you request to delete your account, your account is immediately deactivated and hidden from public view, but your account data is not instantly and permanently erased from our systems.
During the soft deletion period, your profile, listings, and public activity are no longer visible or accessible to other users on the platform. You will not be able to log in and use the platform as normal while your account remains in this state.
3. The Six-Month Waiting Period
Once your account enters soft deletion, it is retained in this inactive, hidden state for a period of six (6) months from the date of your deletion request before it is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems.
This waiting period exists for a specific and important reason: to give Oramex Globals Limited a reasonable opportunity to review account activity and confirm that the account is not being deleted in an attempt to conceal, evade accountability for, or obstruct the investigation of fraud, property scams, identity misuse, or other criminal or unlawful activity carried out through the platform.
Property transactions, escrow deposits, appointment records and identity verification are central to how OHLAM protects users from fraud. Allowing immediate, irreversible deletion would make it easy for bad actors to erase evidence of wrongdoing simply by deleting their account. The six-month period is a deliberate safeguard against this risk, and it protects the interests of legitimate users, counterparties and the agency alike.
4. What Happens During the Soft Deletion Period
While your account is soft deleted, the following applies:
Your profile, property listings, and messages are hidden from other users and removed from public search and browsing on the platform.
You will not be able to log in to use the platform normally, book appointments, or communicate with other users.
Your account data, including transaction history, escrow records, appointment history and verification information, is retained securely and is not accessible to other users.
Internal review may take place, where necessary, to confirm there is no unresolved dispute, suspected fraud, non-appearance charge, pending escrow balance, active investigation, or breach of our Terms of Service connected to your account.
5. Reactivating Your Account
If you change your mind at any point during the six-month soft deletion period, you may contact us to request reactivation of your account. Where there is no unresolved issue tied to the account, we will restore full access to your account and data as it existed before deletion was requested.
Once the six-month period has elapsed and your account has been permanently deleted, reactivation is no longer possible and a new account would need to be created.
6. Permanent Deletion
After the six-month soft deletion period has passed, and provided there is no ongoing dispute, investigation, escrow balance, legal hold, or other lawful reason to retain the account, your account and associated personal data are permanently deleted from our active systems and cannot be recovered.
Permanent deletion may be delayed beyond the six-month period where necessary to resolve an active dispute, complete an ongoing fraud or safety investigation, respond to a lawful request from a competent authority, or fulfil a legal, regulatory, tax or accounting obligation. Where this occurs, we will retain only the information reasonably necessary for that specific purpose.
7. Information We May Retain After Deletion
Even after permanent deletion, applicable law may require or permit us to retain limited records, such as transaction and payment records, escrow account history, or records relevant to a legal claim, for a period necessary to comply with legal, tax, accounting, dispute-resolution, or fraud-prevention obligations.
Any information retained for these purposes is kept securely, limited to what is necessary, and is not used to restore general access to the deleted account or to re-enable platform features.
8. Requesting Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your OHLAM account at any time through your account settings, or by contacting us directly using the details below. Please note that any pending escrow balance, unresolved booking, or active dispute should be settled before your request is processed, as this may affect the timing of your deletion.
Once your request is received and confirmed, your account will be moved into the soft deletion state described in this policy and the six-month period will begin.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Account Deletion Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal obligations. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
